I knew I was going to be working a lot on trying to finish up some work for Gypsy Essentials today, so I decided to use my ingenuity and gave the kids 4 Fun Family Films for the 4th Day of Christmas…..and the amazing thing was, they only watched 2 of the movies! We will be finishing them up tomorrow, I am sure. We have been going to the same movie store for over almost 10 years now. We began patronizing TopHat Video when we moved to Bountiful and we never could find its equal here in Kaysville/Fruit Heights, so we drive down there to get our movies. The downside (duh!), is that it costs money to drive for 1/2 hour. The upside, they have just about every film imaginable. And, if they don’t have what you are looking for, they will order it in. I kid you not. I know this from personal experience because I was the one who requested The Business of Being Born, Miss Representation, and one of the foodie movies (still trying to remember which one). The owners/managers, Mark and Shanna, are genuinely kind and extremely personable with everyone who comes in. They hire employees who are taught to treat the customers with that same respect and friendliness and this makes for an incredible business. I know what you are thinking, what does this have to do with today’s photo. Obviously, the Christmas movies are from there. But I also wanted to point out that Mark and Shanna, and, pretty much, all of the other people that we mingle with on a regular basis, are good people. Sometimes, in the light of all of the sad or crazy events that engulf our lives, it is impossible to remember that there are people who are good. Sometimes, it becomes impossible to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is their smiles, their kind words of encouragement, or their genuine interes,t that keep us rolling along. The irony is, it works both ways. We have to be the smile and the encouraging words for others, as well. No matter how difficult life gets, you will always find that smile waiting for you, if you just look for it. I promise.
One of my most favorite sayings, which I am putting on my Gypsy Boards (they’ll be available after Christmas), is this:
BE THE GOOD. 😉
